It’s officially October, so that means spooky season is upon us. The temperatures are beginning to drop, the air feels fresh and crisp, Trader Joe’s is selling pumpkin spice anything and everything, and we can enjoy a Harry Potter marathon with a hot cup of apple cider while watching the leaves turn. Blah blah blah I’m just another white woman whose favorite season is fall.

It also means it’s about time for fully grown adults to hoard twelve thousand bags of candy, eat half of it before the tricker treaters come, while also yelling at their kids that they can’t have any 😉 What a beautiful time.

Halloween is truly one of my favorite times of the year, and I love to add spooky decor accents to my home, but Halloween decorations can look tacky quick. If you hate the blowup pumpkins and fake bloody corpses in your neighbor’s front yard, and you’re going for a minimal, tasteful Halloween vibe, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ve shared my favorite “grown up-appropriate” Halloween picks below.

(1) Black decorative skull. A classic. Only $5 at Target.

(2) Handmade porcelain skull. A splurge but so pretty! I love the intricate scallop details painted on. It’s handmade in Hungary with real gold accents!

(3) Black candlestick set. These would look so great on a mantle or dining room table centerpiece. Crate&Barrel has similar black candlesticks with a similar edgy vibe that you can buy individually.

(4) Black wreath. Love everything about this edgy wreath. Sadly, it’s already sold out, but I linked just in case it restocks!

(5) Smoked glass metallic glassware. Gorgeous glasses for your scary delicious adult beverages. Must be 21 or older 😉 I’d be using these babies year round.

(6) Rust pampas grass wreath. Under $60. It’s the perfect autumn hue.

(7) Acrylic skull bookends. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement. These bookends are certainly a splurge, but they are 25% off at the moment. Perfect for Halloween, but I’d use these year round as well.

(8) Black branch wreath. Look at the product photos to see how Crate&Barrel styled this piece. It looks so good grounding a table centerpiece with candles in the center. Under $60.

(9) Smoke glass decorative skull. It’s being advertised as the color “smoke,” but it definitely has a green undertone which I love. Comes in black as well.

(10) Black bust. One of my favorite items in this roundup hands down! Definitely has a spooky vibe, but you could use this year round as well. Maybe add some cobwebs to give it that extra oomph!

(11) Black bat wall decals. Great Amazon Prime find under $7! You can use these all around your house and even outside on your front porch. I purchased them a few days ago and can’t wait to share the end result.

(12) Black skull candle. At first, I thought I’d never want to burn the candle, but I actually think it would look even cooler/spookier with part of the skull melted. Under $20.

(13) Tan and black checkered blanket. This blanket is definitely not mutually exclusive with Halloween. Feel free to cozy up with it year round. Loving the checkered pattern, which is very “in” right now, but I think it’s also a classic that will bring you value for years to come.

(14) White ceramic pumpkins. A classic that will never go out of style.

(15) Black taper candles. Switch out your candlesticks with these black taper candles! A tasteful, easy, and inexpensive Halloween touch. Amazon has a 14-pack of black taper candles for only $16 that I personally bought and am happy with.

(16) Black pampas grass arrangement. Pampas grass can do no wrong, especially in this gorgeous black color perfect for this time of year.

Bonus item: Black skull trinket tray. The perfect catchall tray for only $15 with the cutest subtle skull accents. I’m envisioning candy corn spilling over the sides.

Bonus bonus item: Clear glass decorative skull. An affordable Amazon find! I personally own this and love it. I love to display baby’s breath in it, dried lavender, Palo Santo smudging sticks, or a mini candle. Under $20.

Hope you enjoyed this roundup of tasteful, non-tacky Halloween decor! The best part is that a lot of these items are versatile and don’t only have to be used at Halloween time. Let me know your favorite product in the comments below!
