The boucle trend is very “in” right now in design, and I can see why. The retro curled fabric adds the most gorgeous texture to any space, and it instantly creates a playful, cozy feel. I’m certainly a fan of the trend (in moderation), but I have my doubts about whether or not the boucle craze is here to stay.

Considering my doubts about the fabric’s longevity in today’s fast-paced design cycles, I only recommend investing in boucle home accessories and small furniture items. It’s more sustainable both environmentally and financially, and these items are far easier to move around and swap compared to large couches or beds.

I browsed the internet for every boucle item I could find, and carefully curated this list of pieces worth your money. Some of these pieces are still an investment, but I think they’re reasonably priced given the quality. Boucle is one of those fabrics that can look real cheap, real quick, so don’t skimp out. Now let’s get into it.

(1) Mocha boucle decorative pillow. The deep creamy brown color is stunning, and the down-alternative pillow insert looks incredibly cushy. If your space has lots of whites/grays/blacks, this mocha color would be the perfect addition to bring in some warmth. This pillow comes in a pretty ivory color as well.

(2) Ivory boucle decorative pillow. I bought two of these DKNY pillows during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year, and I’m very content with the purchase. I featured them in my Sunday blog post about my overall thoughts on the boucle trend. Just be sure to keep them away from your pets if they like to chew 😉 I was dog sitting a puppy over the weekend, and the looped yarn seemed to soothe her teething lol.

(3) Cream boucle storage ottoman. The ringed channels make this ottoman stand out from the crowd and give it a young, retro feel. Does it vaguely resemble Michelin Man? Yes, but in the best way. Not only does this piece remind you of your favorite tire mascot, but it is so versatile. It could be used as extra seating in your living room, a foot rest in a nursery, or decoration under an entryway console table. The best part? The top is removable so the ottoman doubles as a storage container.

(4) Cream boucle ottoman. Here is another great ottoman option. This classic shape is more likely to work with a variety of design styles.

(5) Cylindrical ivory boucle ottoman. This Article ottoman is my favorite find, and it also happens to be the most affordable at under $140.

(6) Boucle bolster pillow. This round bolster pillow would add the perfect finishing touch to any primary bedroom. The soft tweed-like texture would be a nice contrast against smooth, plush bedding. It’s a bit of a splurge but understandably so since it’s handwoven in Peru and can take days to complete.

(7) Boucle ivory bench. This bench would be perfect in an entryway or at the foot of a king size bed in the primary bedroom. It also comes in a moody black color.

(8) Black boucle chair. This statement chair reminds me of the big monster from Stranger Things, but I’m not mad at it. I would flank this chair on either end of a dining room table or use it as a desk chair. It steals the show, so be sure to balance it out with simple, crisp finishes. It also comes in the same ivory color as the bench pictured in number seven.

And those are my curated picks! Stick to boucle home accessories (i.e. ottomans, benches, stools, pillows) and small furniture items, and you can still explore the trend without breaking the bank on expensive couches or beds that cost $1,000+. Hope you enjoyed! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
