No one asked for it, but I’m finally sharing the grand tour of our small, average, dishwasher-less kitchen. That’s right. Dishwasher-less.

That’s a dagger.

Aside from forcing us to scrub dishes and robbing us of thirty minutes every day, this kitchen serves us well. I added a few functional accessories that liven it up, and I’m pretty happy with the result.

For instance, my favorite kitchen accessory is the vintage rug I scored at Midland Arts & Antique Market downtown Indy. The rich colors add warmth to the gray and white palette and make the space feel more homey. Not to mention the fact that it does a great job covering up the awful beige tile flooring that’s original to the house.

I wonder if the crooked cabinet pull bothers anyone as badly as it does me.

More gorgeous kitchen accessories include the teak root reclaimed wood serving board, marble paper towel holder, white pedestal bowl, and black marble board. My exact pedestal bowl is no longer available, but CB2 has a similar option. The marble board was passed down from my grandparents, but I found a similar black marble serving board at Crate & Barrel for under $30. I use mine for charcuterie boards, as a base for tablescapes, and even a cooling rack for hot pans. It’s incredibly versatile.

If you’re looking for more accessories to spice up the look of your kitchen, cookbooks are a great option. They’re obviously practical if you’re trying out a new recipe, and, if they look anything like the Matty Matheson: A Cookbook, then they can look gorgeous on your countertops too. You can display your cookbooks on a nice acrylic book stand to make for easy recipe reading. It would look great as coffee table decor as well.

I found my utensil holder at Old Time Pottery years ago, and I cannot find anything similar. However, you can never go wrong with a classic marble utensil holder. And if you can’t find a utensil holder you love, I suggest looking for a cylindrical vase with a narrow and/or wide enough lip instead. It works just the same.

My marble spoon rest was only $10 at Target. Looks great in any kitchen. Bonus that it doesn’t obnoxiously have the word spoon written on it 😉

My cutting boards are years old and I don’t particularly love their aesthetic, but they get the job done. Crate & Barrel has a similar Acacia wood cutting board.

Another way to liven up your kitchen? With an actual living organism like a plant. My mom bought me this lucky bamboo plant as a house warming present because apparently it brings good luck. It’s easy to maintain and I love the warmth it brings to the kitchen.

Then I obviously needed to swap out the plastic soap dispensers for these beauties. The glass soap dispenser comes in a two-pack on Amazon, and I bought the black soap dispenser at Crate & Barrel, of course. It’s great for hiding that blue Dial dish soap.

Last but not least, the beloved coffee station. Our Breville Barista Express espresso machine is one of the bougiest things we own and also one of the greatest. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, then this investment will be worth every penny. We store all of the extra coffee gadgets in the basket.

We also have a Ninja toaster oven air fryer that was a Christmas gift, and it is GREAT. It even lifts up and sits on its back to give you more counter space.

To top it all off, I created a custom Death before Decaf print to add a witty edge to the space.

So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed a peak into our average, tiny, dishwasher-less kitchen. I’ll be doing a blog post soon with my curated list of accessories to update your kitchen, so stay tuned for that.
