2020 was a DOOZY and 2021 is not much different, so it’s okay to occasionally say fu*k it, and seek solace in retail therapy. We are all desperately trying to find something…anything to spike those serotonin levels. Me? I just so happen to seek solace in the Tom Ford coffee table book.

Ah, the famous Tom Ford coffee table book. The book that puts all other coffee table books to shame. The book that has an effortless ability to instantly elevate any space. It’s luxurious, timeless, and naturally, stupid expensive. I’ve been wanting this book for god knows how long, but I could never bite the bullet. Then…2020 rolled around. Considering I had been spending much more time at home and desperately looking for a change, I took the plunge and finally bought it.
Yes, I spent a ridiculous amount of money on a pretty book that just sits on my coffee table. ($89 + tax on Amazon to be exact). Judge me all you want. It is objectively silly to spend that much money on something so frivolous, but I don’t regret it for a single second.

In my case, I got some money as a gift, so I unabashedly decided to buy the god damn book already. After all, it is not really your money if you got it as a gift, right? At least that is what I tell myself so I don’t feel guilty for such an indulgent purchase, lol.

Spending $90 on a book you won’t read is a sin. That’s fair, but I’m genuinely happy with this purchase! Interior design is one of my greatest pleasures. It is okay to treat yourself every now and again, especially if it’s your quarantine birthday. Certainly, I’m not the first person to say this, but here’s your sign to do whatever the hell makes you happy. Maybe spending an exorbitant amount of money on decor for your coffee table isn’t your thing. Fair. Then buy that cute pair of shoes, treat yourself to an indulgent meal, but a Master Class course from someone who inspires you. Get creative!
BUT, if you are like me and have been dying to elevate your space with the Tom Ford book, inquiring minds should keep reading. It tells Ford’s story and how he transformed both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent into luxury powerhouses. I have not had the chance to read through everything, but I’m looking forward to it (if I ever carve out some free time, lol).
A word to the wise, the Tom Ford coffee table book is much bigger that you’d expect (11″ x 14″ to be exact), and it has some weight to it. I honestly love the size. Take a look at the other coffee table books for size reference. It’s a statement piece for sure, which mirrors its content. From the bold photography (hello lots of nudity) to the luxe, thick paper, the book is a showstopper. It even comes with a canvas sheath to protect your precious book. Luckily, I have not had to deal with any spills (fingers crossed), so I can’t speak to how easy it is to remove any stains. Error on the side of caution and don’t let any guests use it as a coaster, lol.
At the end of the day, you definitely get what you pay for, and you’ll have the Tom Ford book for years to come!
